There were some farm tractors in the 1940's and maybe early 50's that ran 8 volt batteries from the factory. Other than that application the best use for an 8 volt is a doorstop. Fix the 6 volt system right and stop looking for an easy way out. Adjusting the regulator to make it keep an 8 volt battery charged is an exercise in frustration. I've known 3 men who could do it, and two of them are dead now. I'm the third one!
