I don't know the situation but IF the truck lies on family property and that property is owned by a family member due to inheritance, then the truck is theirs. They can sell it to you for $5 or $500 by using a bill of sale. That is a form of ownership and sets a price that it is worth. Maybe that would help. What someone pays for something is supposed to be an appraisers no. 1 method. (willing seller/willing buyer) If it's not on family property or some other issue, maybe the above may spark an idea.
