I assume from (just now) re-reading in the 1954 manual, that no universal joint ball adjustment is needed on/with the 3/4 and 1 ton 3-speed truck?
I also see that the standard 3-speed transmission on the 1/2 and 3/4 ton 1954 trucks was not available on the 1-ton. A heavy duty 3-speed was available as an option on 1-ton trucks (4-speed was standard). Did that H-D 3-speed have the same rear "cover" as you described above?
