Are the spindles so scarce or expensive that replacing it isn't an option? There is probably a very good reason that particular thread size was chosen, I'm sure, and creating a one of a kind spindle on only one side by going to a different (smaller) thread is just asking for trouble. I'm going to climb way out on a limb and assume "82 p3032" means it's on a 1982 truck? If it was on a 1902, 1912, 1922, etc. vehicle, I might be able to understand a heroic effort to salvage a part, but not for something from the 1980's.
