Perhaps I missed it but just how long if at all has this truck set w/o being used? Check the oil for signs of water and or gas. Missing and popping can mean burnt/stuck or warped valves. You may get lucky as many have done and a tune up will cure the ills. Get er fixed and go have some fun.
