Master cylinder needs to be bench bled before installing. Google "bench bleeding a master cylinder" and you'll find several videos and articles.
Shoes need to be properly adjusted before bleeding. If shoes are not adjusted you may push a cup out of a wheel cylinder, creating a mess and most likely ruining the shoes.
