Just like a cooling fan, never stand in line with anything
spinning perpendicular to the axis of rotation. As klutzy
as those guards are, they do serve a purpose.
I've shattered many of the big 14" abrasive cut off wheels on
cut off saws. With the shield they just crumble and fall to
the bottom of the sump. With out the shield they become a
lethal weapon.
Ya got lucky Don, could have been fatal had it hit the vein.
