well, i just went all the way on my first welder. i got a miler 250. it is a 220v welder with gas. i know it is way more than i need now, but, i will never need more, and i bought it for $500 from a foreclosure sale. my only problem is, i don't have a circuit wired up for it yet. i agree that a 110v welder would be a lot more versatile due to the ease of plugging it in anywhere.
