Another concern is the slow cranking speed of the engine during start and the excessive friction that must be overcome by the starter motor. a choke would be required to enrich the air/fuel mixture, this is kinda what the heat riser does to atomize the fuel and once the intake manifold is hot enough for good fuel vaporization, you can take off the choke as opposed to actually the heat riser doing the job is what i was thinking
