That's interesting Dave. Can you expand on that and explain why the intake and
exhaust valve lobe lift on a hydraulic cam would be any different than it is on a solid lift
cam?
I would have thought that the lobe lift would be the same in both engines and only the
cam profile different as a method of coping with thermal expansion and acceleration of
the hydraulic vs the solid lifter. I can understand there being differences in the ramps,
flank and nose of the cam to compensate for valve lash in a solid lifter engine and slight
differences in the duration.
Because the Chevy six head design is not the most efficient, I would have thought that
both hydraulic and solid cams for a Stovebolt would be dual-pattern designs.
