7K engine RPM is 3500 distributor RPM. Sealed ball bearings in a lot of electric motors run that speed for years at a time. Anybody with a lathe and more than 3 brain cells to rub together should be able to fabricate a 1/2 speed Gilmer belt driven HEI distributor setup with centrifugal and vacuum advance in one afternoon.
