Come on, not a smart a**, sounds like a kid with some common sense.
Those rubber sweeps seem to cause more trouble than any other
part when rebuilding the doors. Wish someone would get it
right and put the ones that are making ill fitting rubber
out of business.
Right now, your best bet for success without a head ache is
to buy a set from 3 or 4 vendors and hope one of them is correct.
