Good to hear that you all don't think the valve strike is fatal. What caused the engine to drop a valve like that?

The oiler part is called a "connector assembly" in my 1942 parts manual. There seems to be many versions of these during the production of the 235. Was GM chasing oiling problems and coming up with new fixes? Randy does the connector assembly you have look like the one in my image?

I will see if I can find a used piston ring to measure the difference in cylinder taper, found this nugget from Jerry years ago.
