Paul, with the head off, see if there is a number in the center of the piston top. That would be the current bore size. If nothing, that may be really good news since it might mean it hasn't been bored at all yet. Or they didn't stamp the pistons. But if its there, you will know something you didn't.

Also Paul, if its a yard dog truck, use whatever head gasket comes in the kit. But if you have plans for it, go with Copper. IMHO

The one thing that I thought was a good statement as far as philosophy is.. This venerable engine deserves the treatment you would use when installing it in a treasured vehicle. Not a trailer queen, or show truck, or anything like it, rather a TREASURED vehicle. Lots of amazing talent here. Ask questions no matter how stupid they sound because we have ALL been there.
