I agree with your hunch! Thank you for the explanation. We are talking just post war vehicles in 1949. I have the same opinion you do. The Chevrolet dealers got the parts where they could, in the quickest possible fashion in order to close the sale. Delco-Remy, Cole-Hersee or Ark-Les. The switch came from the vendor who had them readily available.
