I expect he will weld new threaded rod the size of the old posts in place of the posts. The clearance above the bracket is not very much. I don't understand how you can run bolts through those hollowed out posts without the bolt heads running into the tranny.
Those rubber parts are available from the vendors. They weren't expensive. But after seeing them I can imagine making them out of any other thick rubber, like cut up bits of tires or mud flaps. Good idea!
