is this the GMC? add-on type signals or factory? is there a fuse in the circuit? if you had 2 switches go bad in different ways it might be defective switches or as likely, the installation has some other problem
if the connections 'overheat' it's a poor connection, not an 'under-rated' switch .... watts = heat, there shouldn't be any watts in the switch terminals unless there's poor contact
