It seems that the aftermarket switch can't handle the wats and it overheats. The terminals then become distorted and short causing the lights to flash as if the truck had a hazard flasher
I trimmed the terminals and now the system works ok but I lost the connection that sends the signal to the dash ( right signal only ) that blinks so you know the turn signal is operating.
This is the second switch I have installed as the 1st one stopped working altogether.
Should I go with led lights to lower the wattage.

if the connections 'overheat' it's a poor connection, not an 'under-rated' switch .... watts = heat, there shouldn't be any watts in the switch terminals unless there's poor contact
