Here's my issue. I'm looking for a solution that involves the least amount of jury rigging and maintenance effort. Ram-assist seems like a way to accomplish that. Electric eliminates the messiness of hydraulic fluid. So that's what I'm leaning toward, although I still have a lot of investigating to do. Mileage and wear and not as big a consideration as seals drying up due to lack of use.
Once I'm retired, in February, I may drive the truck more, which could obviate those concerns to some degree.
