My understanding of the electric PS assist is limited to owning two late model vehicles that came with it. A 2006 Chevy Equinox and currently a 2013 Chevy Equinox. Like virtually all late model vehicles they have an R&P set up. I'm not sure it can be used with any other system. I purchased an extended warranty as I have no desire to work on the later vehicles. However I have no problem using drive train components to upgrade older vehicles as applicable.
