Jimbo, got caught up in your thread and one of the pictures triggered me to send you one more bit of info you may need. On the 261's it is crucial to have the oil passages on the block either run direct to each other, or through an oil filter, before you run it. Google chevrolet 261 engine, and you will find this mentioned in several places. Jim Carter has a great article called "The forgotten 261" Good luck with your truck!!
