Make sure rotor is contacting the coil wire contact on the inside of the distributor cap. I once had that very same problem. My problem was caused by a smart adz mechanic friend who thought it would be funny if he removed my rotor button while I wasn't looking. When it wouldn't start right up like it normally does, I pulled the distributor cap to check for fire through the points and noticed the rotor button was gone! I knew right away who the culprit was, and he was impressed how quickly I figured it out. I never paid him back for that one, but I'll bet he is still looking over his shoulder, waiting for it.
