The triangle is Top Dead Center on #1 That is useful when setting valves. The dot/BB is just a bit before it as you turn the flywheel. Any way both will get you started. The points, well I have had that happen. New ones will get you back to starting again. The dizzy is clamped in place and is easy to adjust when you can get to that step.
