Once you change that stuff out, let us know if you still have a problem. Its 12v so I assume you have a 12v resistor coil (if no resistor on the firewall). The small wires on the coil are + to battery (positive) and the - side goes to the dist. Sometimes its something easy. Make sure your ground strap is clean and properly set.
