For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,962 | We used to run 90W straight mineral oil in transmissions and 180 W in the summer and 90 W GL 5 in winter the rears. I now run 50W synthetic in all my transmissions and 80W140 synthetic in the rears year round. If it has an electric 2 speed, pull the cover on the shifter and make sure there is no water in it. Originally the books called for 10W non detergent for the shifters, but there is nothing in there that 10w30 will hurt.
60 MPH should be no problem. By 1969 the speed limit was 75 on some interstate highways. Federal law dropped it to 55 in the mid 70's to save gas. | | |
