I use a 2x4 and a large ball peen hammer. Don't strike it with a metal hammer direct. Also, study the balancer and how far it will go on so you have an idea of when to stop, and don't forget to put a little oil on the seal and the HB before you start.
Even after drilling and tapping my crank to put a dual pulley balancer on my engine, it still requires pressing it on. My HB isn't going anywhere! LOL
