A wood front would still have metal behind it. The wood is strictly for looks. I am thinking quarter-turn Dzus wing nut style fasteners to open and close it. Two per drawer to be sure.
I HAVE thought about the side idea, but it just didn't feel right. Hearing pros and cons here will really help me decide.
