on a side note, i once had a 66 GMC pickup with a 283 in it... i had similiar problems with the dwell "changing" on its own... after several weeks of troubleshooting and messing with it, I found that the plate that holds to points to the distributor shaft housing was cracked, which allowed the plate to move several degrees, this would happen every time is accelerated or decelerated!!!
