Mechanically I can understand the worn out cam explanation for backfiring thru carb, since valve is late/not fully closed (+ any timing issue)..but still struggling w/why running lean would cause it. Detonation is via plug, not compression, what am I missing? Maybe Professor Jerry HL would like to chime in?
