1953 Chevy - Dad And Son Finished

Well fellow stovebolters, Dad and Son finished the 53 chevy after 7 years of work... Frame off restoration, all original metal, original paint with an updated 235 twin carb engine, Saginaw 3spd with BW O/D, and a 55 rear end. We secretly rebuilt the truck and gave it back to my FIL for his 75th birthday.

Below is the link to the reveal video where he had no idea the truck he was admiring was the truck we had worked on for 7 years. The last time he saw the truck was last summer and the chassis was barely rolling.

Transport Blue (original factory color)
Champagne Bronze interior satin (original factory color)
235 bored .060" over with hydraulic lifters, dual carb with offenhauser intake, Rochester B carbs and fenton headers.
Saginaw 3spd, BW Overdrive
1955 Rear End "pumpkin in original 53 axle.
All original body panels, new grill and tailgate
Upgraded brakes to dual cylinder, vacuum assist
US Wheels 16x6 reproduction with 1953 style caps and dress up rims
16x6 Firestone Bias Ply white wall tires.

Thank you for all the help from this forum and the use of the tech tips.

Unreal. What a moment. 😎😎

It really is inspiring. Now get out there Bolters... and get wrenching.
My father, uncles, and aunts are getting older, and I’m pushing to get Grandpa’s old C10 done as well. Thank you for the inspiration.

GREAT.....I had to get a tissue on this one. What a fine tribute to their dad while living to enjoy. Fantastic.

Awesome story and video.

I loved it when he said "Linda, we don't have room for your car in the garage." grin

Thanks for the story and inspiration.

I love the fact that his first words once he was able to talk were telling his wife they dont have room in the garage for her car now 🤣

That truck came out beautiful. He will be grinning everytime he drives it or sees it.

Amen! What a wonderful birthday present for your dad. It took you and your son seven long years but I’m sure you would say it was worth every minute!
