As some of you guys who know me know, I don't underbuild anything. So in my hopes to learn how to weld, once I got my welder it seemed like from everything I read a lot of people build a welding cart for their welder first, so I dug in.
Picked up an old wheelchair for $20 as I thought it would make for good wheels since it will likely be going back and forth between my house and my neighbors a lot.
Here's my progress pics from sunday.
Feel free to pick it apart and provide input as it's still a work in progress.
The plan was for it to have a shelf in the middle that the welder would sit on (up higher) and the cables and gun would go below but my buddie has convinced me to put a couple hooks to wrap the cables on loosely and add a couple drawers underneith for tools and stuff. Also the Chop saw won't be used up there, it's just for storage and transport. Although My buddie is trying to convince me to build "Winged shelves on either side" to support stuff so we could cut there, but I don't really want it throwing dust down into the welder..

You have way too much time on your side. Shouldn't you be doing something more important such as practicing changing diapers or something?

Mongo-

Buy another wheel chair for the chassis of your industrial-strength diaper changing table. You can use the same mask!

On the welding front, I'm envious of your ingenuity and tools! grin

I like the wheel chair idea. I have the large wheel lawn mower which works much better than standard wheel types. Where did you find a used wheel chair for $20.00? I've been thinking about a welding cart also.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, it was fun to build but like my truck, I'm sure it will never be done..
cmayna Yeah, I know but I have been getting lots done in the boys room, so I'll have to take some pics and post and update on that soon.

48bigtrucks Believe it or not the place was in the KC Star. The chair was back in his junk pile that he uses to pull parts didn't sound like he had many people buying them for crazy projects so I think he gave me the good deal cause he was intrigued, I need to email him a picture like I promised.

dale937 Thank you... Hopefully I'll build up enough confidence to weld actual truck panels soon..
