A few things to note: PLEASE READ THIS!!!
All registrations are moderated (so your registration is not automatic). When you register, you will receive an email with a link in it. Click on the link to confirm your email address. Otherwise your registration will automatically expire and you will not be approved.
Until approved, you will not be able to post in the Forums, but you will still be able to read them (in that respect, it's known as an "open forum."). Normal wait times for approval are 24 to 48 hours.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but past abuse has made it necessary. We found that this process has worked well in the smooth operation of the forums, even though it does create more work for the Staff. If you think the process is taking too long or you have questions, please send email to The Stovebolt Geek. We are anxious to get you approved because the motivation behind our site is service to others. As a matter of fact, all our "employees" are volunteers, doing this work in their spare time. The site is very busy and active, and we are working as best we can. Thanks for your patience and we look forward to welcoming you to our Virtual Garage!
Make sure your cookies and javascript are enabled when you register. The program will tell you that a log-in name is already taken, when in fact, it needs to speak techno-babble to your computer to actually register you.
Make sure your email address is correct. The forum program will send you a password (which you can change later) to the email address you entered. Please make sure that stovebolt.com is not blocked by any firewall, antivirus, or spyware software AND YOU HAVE WHITELISTED OUR ADDRESS IN ANY SPAM BLOCKING SOFTWARE YOU USE!!! Otherwise, your password will be bounced back to us.
And don't forget, passwords are CaSE sENsiTIvE.
Your log-in name can be different from your public name. The name that will appear on the screen is the public name. No one will see your log-in name. You can go back and change your public/screen name as often as you like without having to re-register.
If your email address ever changes, be sure to change it in your profile.
