I bought a nice looking 1962 235 last night, I was told it was out of a truck and it still has it's bell housing with the hydraulic slave & arm on the right hand side.
My 55.2 3600 has two "studs" sticking up out of the frame for the motor mounts. The '62 Engine no longer has the holes or bosses cast into the block to mount the brackets.
The '62 engine has a front mount bracket on the timing cover flange under the harmonic balancer with a rubber pad and two studs sticking through the bottom.
I assume I need the bottom half of the mount (or bracket) and then do I simply drill the front cross member to add the bracket. If so are there any drawings etc to help me center it and is there a lower retainer or anything else I need?

LOL yup been there and done that. I bought a I think a 1960 235 for my 1956 3100 fortunately I decided not to use that motor and just use it for parts. What really was funny about that was in Patricks catalog when I called him before the he warned me about that block and I marked the block number in the book a few month later I forgot the book and I thought what are the chances of me getting that one out of all the other ones and guess what Bingo well enough of that boring story

Try this not sure if its what your looking for or You may want to call Patrick's for some good advice

That was found at this thread 235 front motor plate

good luck

Now I'm even more confused. I thought I took the original 235 engine out ofh my 55.2 3600 and it had 2 front motor mounts one on each side in the area forward of the fuel pump. There was a bracket on each side that bolted directly to the block.
The 62 235 I bought has a single front mount that Im reading all the trucks had??? My truck doesnt have any holes in the front cross member where Im assuming the mount would bolt to.

1955 2nd through 1959 trucks and 1955-57 pass used the front side mounts.
If you decide to mount it on the front center you will need to make up your own brackets.

I'm not sure but that newer engine should already have those mount points drilled and tapped. Just use the mounts off the engine that came out.

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

1960-62 engines do not have these front side mounting provisions.

That's the issue I'm faced with. My "new" '62 engine has a front mount with no provisions for the two "corner" brackets the original engine had. My truck doesn't have provisions for the front mount and I cant find any information as to how to make it work.

Might be able to trade it to somebody for a pre '60 engine.

1958-62 engines have provisions for center side mounts. A creative person could mount it from there to the frame.

Hi, I have a 1962 261 in my 55 cameo, I used the 60 series front motor mount that was on the engine. My front cross member had the holes for the front mount. Bolt your engine in on the rear mounts and set the engine on the front cross menber. Mark where the studs touch the cross mender and dill you holes. Mine had a rubber mount that went under the cross menber for the front mount.

Update: This is what we did as noted above. Set the engine in, marked the front cross member and drilled then slotted the holes for adjustment. Ends up with the nose of the engine up about 3/4" from original as seen when we tried to fit the lower radiator hose. Simply had to match a hose up and works fine.
Also there will be an issue with the throttle linkage as the pivot on the '62 engine is farther to the rear. used the '62 pivot and after tweaking it so the carb linkage clears the '55 manifold works fine. We will have to shorten the throttle pedal rod but will get to that later.

I drill and tap the blocks that do not have the front pivot. I then install a pipe plug that I drilled and tapped for the stud. See picture. Another view.
