I ran across a 62 GMC 4wd with a 305 engine. It's an old farm truck, all sheetmetal is shot and in general its pretty rough shape but the owner says the engine will run and the 4wd works. Couldn't find much wrong with the frame either, but been told those motors were boat anchors. I'm thinking about using the rolling frame for a future project but not sure if its worth the trouble. Owner say's he can get $350 for scrap and won't budge. Is it worth it? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 | Check out "Youtube's" video: "The Blue Truck:Pauly Built". It features a '65 G.M.C. 4000 2-ton,pulling a tandem "pup" trailer. During harvest, this truck hauls 2,100-mile round-trips a day! Engine is a 305E.They have plenty of torque, and plenty of power. just not so great on fuel economy.I,personally like the 305's,since I owned two of them, and they lasted longer than the sheet metal. I think they're VERY dependable. If you can get the engine to run,it's worth the money. It may be worth it anyway,if the rest of the drive-train is salvagable. Also inner door panels, gauge cluster, heater [censored]'y,wiper [censored]'y,etc. Parts is parts.

Remove the lower flywheel cover & you can see them. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though.
