For what style heater?

For what year heater?

sorry-the 47-55e fresh air or airflow heater that has the rectangular type core.

The Brassworks in Paso Robles, CA makes and restores heater cores.

There are still two different styles for that year range. Up to 53 has a core that is currently reproduced and sold through many vendors and the 53-55 1st has a side "flap door" on the front and takes a slightly different core.

do you know the difference? is is mounting straps or core dimension differences?

I have about 10? of the flap versions and maybe 8 of the normal kind. most are blown apart though... wasnt aware off differences when I took them apart and assumed chevy was too cheap to have 2 different cores.
will carefully take apart both OEM kinds to see if I can figure it out if I dont hear from you-thanks

copanel, let us know what you find out of the difference between the 2 rectangular cores in mounting ect.... I figure the core looks the same only the tubes coming out of them might be different.

tube output location are identical for sure.
all cases are same on back side.

I know new heater cores only list up thru 1952 fresh air. Something must be different? Like you I can't think GM redesign to much when they added the door for recirculating to the heaters in 1953-55 1st...

Not quite correct. The new style heater has the tubes slightly staggered and the old style has them pretty much in line with each other. The tanks on the old style are taller and the mounting provisions different. I assume to make room for the "front trap door" Old style core

I had pictures of both cores side by side but cannot find them right now.

Cool! When the cores are side by side, it is easy to spot the difference.

Good to see Jim carter has the newer one if needed. Chevy Duty only listed the earlier one...

both jim carters are NOT for the recirc fresh air heater according to description.
pics on the jim carter site are of the exact same core.

I thought they looked the same also, but thought maybe I wasn't seeing something everyone else could....LOL
