Started welding up the various cracks and busted seams on the bed. Man do I need the pracrice. I now have a usable tailgate and the sides don't flap and bend when climbing onboard.
Thankfully I have plenty of practice welding to do in unseen places before I start to tackle the cab & fenders.

Did some work on the '56 today. Awhile back I dinged a front fender coming out of the shop. Not bad but I found out the rear bottom corner was held on with bondo. Notice I said was. After that it stuck out and had to be pushed in to open the door.

Today I fixed it. The piece that is supposed to bolt on is completely rusted away. I built a block of oak to fit the gap and attached it with sheet metal screws. It should last my lifetime. Whoever gets it after I'm dead can laugh about the 'farmer fix'.

I also gave her a lube job while I had it in the air.

Just got the '41 back from the paint shop and it looks great. Painted it the same colors but now there are no light spots or dents or runs etc.

Stabbed the engine in the '52. Now I can get rid of the Gantry Crane that takes up so much of my very limited work space.

Pulled front bumper, bumper brackets.valence and hood latch panel getting ready for the Scott Danforth crossmember install. Front clip next. need to drain radiator and trans cooler first. I will have pics as I progress further. This will be a major undertaking but it needs to be done as the Sub will be for sale in the spring of '14 and I don't want the new owner to be saddled with alignment problems and premature front tire wear.

Really looks nice DavidF. Looks like a solid color. I'm going to use a solid green, not sure what shade. What type paint did you go for?

I finally got round to attending to a couple of electrical gremlins.
My fuel gauge had been playing up,the gauge istself checked out as OK so it was down to the sender or wiring, only snag was i'd boxed the whole gas tank in.
After an hour or so I found the culprit,a bad/loose ground,an easy fix but thanks to the boxing a simple 5 minute job turned into a marathon, the flickering brake light issue was down to the same problem, but much easier to cure.

Lesson for today, always check your grounds are good!

Engine and tranny are now in the frame, hopefully this weekend I can start on the engine bolt-ons.

The green is the color the cab will be.

Very interesting color...will stand out for sure. Why not paint the transmission the same color while you are at it? It seems that is what they do on all the quick build car shows like OverHaulin, etc. Good progress.

Finally got back into the garage.

- confirmed the operation of the ingition switch (truck runs in "accy", now know that the switch is okay)
- removed the glovebox
- removed the dash center trim piece (screened for speakers, but the truck never had a radio).
- pulled the original cigarette lighter out.

Next up is gage cluster removal for restoration and re-wiring!

Replaced the trans with a better SM318 (I know, but that's what she came with) and replaced the carrier bearing.

Leaking oil, so replaced the valve cover gasket. Is there no way to get the oil pan off of a 250cid in a '66 C10 without raising the engine? Trapped between the cross-member and flywheel...arrghh!

Hope it's not the rear main leaking. Would have checked, but had to get her together to drive to work today.

Riveted -and it's where the motor mounts are attached.

The sump won't clear the cross-member when I slide it forward, and the pan won't clear the flywheel if I slide it towards the rear.

Guess I'll install the new gasket by touch.
