I know this has been asked many many times before but bear with me as I am not as slick as most of you other bolters.

Can it be taken off as a unit?
Does the radiator need to be removed?
How does the grille come out?

I put it all together years ago but my memory has gone south along with numerous other bodily functions. help me out just one more time puhleeese. I promise to not ask again.




Weeds

With the help of a friend, we have removed and installed the front inner/outer fenders and the grill as a single unit (this might be what people call a front clip or a dog house?). This was on 1954 trucks, but I'd bet that 47-53 would allow the same.

At least loosening the radiator support/housing is necessary. Someone else will have to correct/comment on this. There are side arms on the radiator that I dimly recall required a bit of careful maneuvering.

in real life its not that easy, but it can be done with help and a big work area

Pull the bumper assembly from the frame then, the front clip
should come out as a unit by pulling the bolts that hold the
inner skirt and heal of the fender to the toeboard, the two
brace rods from the fender to the cowl, the two bolts under the
core support and of course the hoses and wires. Then your two
strappin' young lads should be able to lift it right out.
Started this earlier before I went out to shovel snow.
I'd pull the radiator just to protect it from getting
bumped.

The grill, being bolted in all around the opening,
will require most of the fasteners that hold the rest
of the sheet metal together to be removed. At this
point there are just a few bolts holding the fenders,
innerskirts and core support together so you may as
well just finish disassembling it all.
