I went to grease and check all the levels as well as document the parts. I found I have a drive shaft with two universals with grease fittings rather than a torque tube. As Hotrod Lincoln pointed out I've had some major modification done. Now to figure out exactly what I have!
I've got a Rogers rebuilt 216 powering the truck and the following ;
Transmission serial. CBJ 105999. The casting says GM 48 Rear End. HA 0225
Anyone have any idea of what year and what vehicle they came out of ?

If your engine is supported mid-block and nothing else, you need a rear transmission support. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy Dck54, the transmission looks like a fully synchronized Saginaw three speed from a mid sixties up GM car or truck. The rear axle is a "twelve bolt" GM originally from a coil sprung truck I believe. There really is no need to support the back of the transmission with this setup, unless you experience a vibration when driving, hope that helps. | | |
