So here is my new idea: Chevy 350, Tremec TKO-600, stock 4.57 rear end. All wrapped up in a 51 3600. What do you think? Yes, no, maybe so? | | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 | 6 speed out of a camero? Do you have a 350 yet? And yeah your posting a ton. A.d.d.?

Easy to get decent performance out of also. You're going carbureted also. That's a low cost build. Check your local Craig's list. Probably a mild small block on there for cheap. Good luck.

Not to mention, you'll need one with the forward shifter. An NV3500 or NV4500 would be a better transmission for your truck, and alot easier to come by and have a .73 overdrive.
The 4.57 rearend isn't the "end all" like most would suggest, With and overdrive trans, it's a good setup. Some of the newer trucks come with a 4.56 rearend. With a .73 final drive ratio transmission and 31" tire, you'll be cruising at 2100 RPM at 60. Not too shabby.
More advise: Don't bite of more than you can chew. I had big dreams for my 3600 truck. I've had to learn along the way to keep it simple. Whatever path, you choose, stick with it. Don't change your mind 100 times along the way.

I really want to keep it standard. That is why I changed it randomly. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 34 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 34 | And in regards to your extra advice. I understand completely. That is why I am posting different ideas. I want to have things figured out before I really dive in and start shelling out money. Thank you for your help. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 | Don't count out the 700R4. I know you seem partial to shifting, but it is a good overdrive transmission. Next to a late 80's T5 swap, it's probably one of the easier ones to accomplish. | | |
