I'm thinking of buying an old Dinsmore compass for the truck. It probably will need to be cleaned and refilled. Can anyone recommend a good "whiskey" compass repair shop?

They are pretty easy to disassemble and refil w/ kerosene or alcohol. Check w/ your nearest General Aviation airport.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Thanks Ed! I would presume that once apart, a new gasket would be required to seal it back up again? Has anyone out there taken one of these apart?

denatured alcohol is what is normally used....
usually a fill plug/screw used to top up...

Dave, I just checked out your '58 GMC and the stories about bringing home it and your firetruck! What a gas! Thanks for sharing those. BTW that is one sweet looking '58!
