on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 34 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 34 | Alright, I'm fairly new at this so forgive me for the errors and lack of knowledge.
I'm thinking a 700r4 transmission with a 4.10 differential in the stock rearend of my '51 3600. I want to use this truck as a "go anywhere" truck. I'm not off-roading or drag racing. I just want to take it down the highway without blowing up. Any thoughts, feelings, opinions? I am open to any suggestions. Thank you for your time. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | the 700R4 is a good trans

Tire Rev / mile can be found on many tire sites (tirerack.com)?

I will probably use 17inch rims. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 | 700r4 is an over drive trans. It's a nice combo with 4.10. Good low end and nice cruising on the highway. What motor is going in front of this set up? Maybe a 3.73 if the motor has enough bottom end. With 4.10 and 31" tire your at about 2200 rpm for 70 mph.

I can explain it to you, I can't understand it for you.

Maybe that person was wrong? Anyway I was hoping to put a Chevy 350 in it. I want to keep to carburated power and I thought it would fit in nicely. Again, maybe I am wrong. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 568 | Lots of those swaps on here. Sounds fun, best of luck to ya

I would first define what the expectations are for the truck and then select components. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 34 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 34 | I probably won't use it to pull anything except maybe a motorcycle trailer. I just want a cool street rod that I can take anywhere. | | |
