It is secured in a mount below below the headlight switch on the underside of the dash. These cables were usually installed aftermarket, and whoever put it in probably just used whatever was available at the time. Just be careful not to take to much off. That is what I have done with choke cables, throttle cables and even PTO cables.

When I first started playing with PTO's, it was a knob and cable. My cable is a little long, and like Jim says I can trim it up, I was just curious what length others were using. Mark my PTO knobs are not on the floor, but I don't have one of the electronic switches either. Though there used to be another set of controls for the electric motor powered lift that is currently disconnected but installed on the truck. I don't know which one was installed first, but the PTO driven lift bed was the one connected when I got it. Has anyone else seen many trucks with both a PTO and electric powered lift bed? The location on the left side like Curt has is fairly common. Also on the floor as Mark stated. I have also seen them run through the holes in the dash where the radio knobs would normally go. One of my IH trucks has them there. | | |
