Horn won't beep.

1948 3100
6 volt system

Horn works when grounding upper column bearing to stealing shaft.

But........no beep when all is together

Got power up to upper bearing.
Power goes through contact bushing.
But with contact plate on there is no beep.
I put on the steering wheel, horn contact bushing, horn contact plate, washer, and nut.

Any ideas?

TIA

My 49 had a similar problem. The large contact disc that the horn cover depresses and makes contact to ground was so corroded that it wouldn't make good enough contact to ground & activate the horn relay.
I used a screwdriver and sandpaper to clean it up, works good now.

If the set up is like my 52, and I think it is, check the flex, braided connection. Mine had corroded until it quit. A bit of solder and horn honked again.
