They have the tall, narrow look I want but not sure they would work in a truck application. The tread style is similar to the non directional military tires and the sidewalls look like the classic old bias tires with the diamond pattern on the sidewall. Would they be worth pursuing? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 | I would not use them whatsoever.
First off, commercial/agricultural tires aren't meant for high speeds. They'd probably overheat and blow apart.
Secondly, They usually only run about 15 psi of air in them.
Third, they are made to flex. I would imagine in a turn they would be very unstable.

All I've found is a Tornel tire from Coker that fits my application. They have a traction and highway tire that are 34" tall. My other option is to ditch the 17" split rims which are in great shape and use some 16" tires on a set of modern rims I have. Just don't get the height I want in 16". | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 . | | . They may or may not wear well if not primarily intended for road use though. They'll also have a weight rating and PSI on the sidewall, so you could answer that question too. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 197 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 197 | You may want to check out 255/85/r16 tires; they are about as tall as 7.50-17's, but a little wider. It looks like you have plenty of room for them on your '46, and I think they'd look real nice.
