On my 59 it never had a factory turn signal so I bought one from Jim Carters and it works fine, HOWEVER I really would like to have the factory type turn signal.
Can I take one from a "parts Truck" and attach it to my Steering column? If so do I need to alter the column itself in any way?

Try searching the salvage yards. Seems that about 1/2 of the TF trucks I see in salvage yards have factory turn signals, especially '56 and later 1/2 tons.
