For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 139 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 139 | Hi all. Working on 54 3100 with 235 6v. In process of doing a full tuneup and I noticed the new coil I bought (NAPA part # ECH IC7) is marked "Use with external resistor". There was none on the old coil. Not sure if I need to add a resistor??? My electrical "knowledge" is some where between caveman and 2nd grader so any help/advice would be welcome. THANKS!! | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy 54hydramaticFL, six volt coils do not need external resistors, are you sure the coil is a six volt coil? Perhaps they put the notation on the coil in error, hope that helps. | | |
