On my '42, the previous owner converted to 12 volts and added electric wipers. Some time ago, I acquired both the right and left wiper motors, as cores. My neighbor just recently restored them and got the motors running, so I am looking at reverting to vacuum wipers. After removing the interior sheet metal over the window, I don't see any brackets or other mounting structure, and I don't see where such a thing would attach on the motors themselves. Do the motors mount with just the exterior shaft nut, or am I missing something?

Thank you. It was hard to find 6V motors. The Vac. ones are OK but they stop under acceleration. They make a fuel pump/vac pump. This is what I would use if I stayed with the vac wipers.

Hey GW, Where did you find those wiper motors for your 46? I would like to replace my vac unit with 12v.

I will have to look back through my records. But the challenge was the 6volt issue. I think you can find several 12volt designs. They make them with a connecting arm too. As I recall like 350.00 for the 12volt connected arm ones.

I bought 2 ea 12 volt from an Ebay supplier but called and got them a little cheaper direct, thinking about $120. Haven't install yet but existing hole needs to be drilled out to maybe 3/8 or 7/16ths, shafts are long and will need to be cut and they will need to be wired together or switched separately. They came with arms and wiper blades but blades are a little cheap. Unknown if they are still in business web address and phone off box www.rodtiques.com 781-826-2360 Hope this helps. Thanks Dan, I've used that kind of wiper on a old jeep I had and was not happy with the quality. I found a kit from a marine company and am looking into that possibility. The company is called Ongaro Marine and the kit # is 31011. I'm not sure if it will fit in the same place as the vacuum unit.

Speedway Motors has that same wiper kit with a black motor for $29.99. You have to cut the shaft to length.

I got the stainless ones from Speedway so that I could use them with a dash switch to control both wipers. They work very well.

The 6 volt wiper motors are part number WW349 from Jim Carters $135.00 total included arms and wipers. I had to remove the black cover and remove the switch to get them to fit. I also took old vac. motors and used the switch knobs to keep it org. looking.

I think it has an 8" arm & 9" blade.

I'm thinking of trying the replacement arm/blade set on my vacuum motors.

It's for a 1/4" shaft and has a better spring in the arm. I'm hoping it will keep the blade on the windshield better than the original ones.
