If it does penetrate the concrete would it provide you any useful data? If you have wire it'll read positive everywhere and could possibly do that even with rebar if they are close enough together.

Denny, I used one to find the cables in my garage floor when I installed a 2 post lift. My concrete is pre stressed with cables. I did not want to hit one of those with the drill bit. The metal detector worked fine.

Call the underground utility locater people. if you have cables of other lines under the floor, they can find them with their fancy doohickey. They might be able to locate the rebar if you can talk them into it. Best of all.....it's free.

10-4 on the 811 in the yard.

If you don't call the utilities you get to pay if you dig up their stuff. If you call 811 then you have a chance they will fix it.

I use dowsing rods to find water as well as metal. Contrary to a lot of belief, it has nothing to do with witchcraft. And I have not promised my soul to the devil either. I think it has something to do with magnetism. When I graduated from high school and again when I graduated from college, my parents bought me very expensive wind up watches. Neither one of them would run a week. Every jeweler in town told me I had too much magnetism in my body. I have no trouble with quartz watches.
