Hi, just moved here and got my first '49 chevy. I'm looking for a shop in the Los Angeles area that might specialize in our old trucks.

Thanks for the info!

Hmm, I think Brothers is out of SoCal. I don't know if they have a retail store though. I think they're overpriced.
I think your best bet is Chevy Duty chevyduty web page or American Classic (check the link on the home page here). I've been very pleased with Chevy Duty.
Welcome to the Stovebolt and congrats on your truck.

Brothers is on the 91 freeway just west of Corona. They do have a retail store. Golden State is in the L.A. area, they have a retail store. There are other stores, but none come to mind.

I recommend Truck Shop in Orange California, their prices are very reasonable.

Then I would recommend Classic Industries in Huntington Beach, higher prices than Truck Shop.

And if you want to pay way more money for the same parts, then Brothers in Corona would be the place.

The only problem with out of state vendors is that the shipping and handling charges add up very fast.

Does Classic Industries have much for a '49?

Out of state does mean you have to pay for shipping but, you're not paying the 8.25% sales tax or whatever high California tax AND it's not costing you $2.50 a gallon for gas to and from the store. Just a thought. I'm a miser these days.

Sorry, but I thought that Wally-baby was asking for shops in the LA area? So I made some recommendations.

Yeah man, it's all recommendations. Nobody's trying to discount your posts. Different points of view are a good thing. If we all thought the same and did things the same way, this website would be awfully boring and not very informative.
Give somebody all the different angles and let 'em choose. Sorry if you felt put down dano.

One of the retailers listed above will clean your clock on the so called "shipping and handling", even if they are shipping local in southern Cal. Can't say which one. Don't want to violate any rules.
