Looks like somebody don't know what they have sitting there. It's not too far for me if the price is reasonable. 1967 GMC 9500 Fire Ladder Truck"The Flag Pole"In the Stovebolt Gallery'46 2-Ton grain truck | '50 2-ton flatbed | '54 Pontiac Straight Eight | '54 Plymouth Belvidere | '70 American LaFrance pumper fire truck | '76 Triumph TR-6 Of all the things I've lost in my life, I miss my mind the most! | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,608 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 1,608 | Cool find! It is a 1939-42 GMC AFKX-352 shop van. I think most all were actually produced before we entered WW2. Roosevelt could see the writing on the wall... The front drive axle was produced by the Timken Corporation. There were several other body configurations made on a similar platform. It is basically the early version of the wartime CCKW and some parts interchange. http://olive-drab.com/idphoto/id_photos_gmc_afkx.phpYou are lucky to see one.

That body style had 360(OHV) or so gassers, 4-71's, 5 speed direct(gasser) or 5 speed OD(diesel). Could also have inherited Buick 6 cyl gassers, probably not likely, though. If same running gear as CCKW, etc., could also have 270 GMC gasser w/ 4 speed.
I had a similar vehicle, '41 to '47 body style, 228 or so engine, 2WD, 1.5 ton running gear, was radio vehicle, had big gen. hooked to driveline. No px.

Great option, makes more useful in today's traffic.

The guy that owns the junk-yard,has it parked in a spot that makes it visible to a lot of traffic,in THE salvage yard area of Des Moines,Iowa. I-35 and I-80 intersect 8- miles north of its location. The owner is asking $15,000,and I'm sure it's still there. It looks like it's been sitting in the same spot for YEARS!!I coulda got the guy's number, but Billy,(owner of the '59 Viking 60 bus),took a tour of the junkyard, without owner's consent. It's a wonder I got the info.I did,'cause he was MAD!! I don't blame him! I'm GLAD I took the video, before we entered the yard! (See what I mean about "stooges"?)
